Program Evaluations

Dr. Jones serves as the Principal Investigator for a number of evaluation studies of social-emotional learning programs designed to assess the impact of specific programs as well as contribute to the growing body of evidence for SEL programming as a whole.

4Rs Program: Reading, Writing, Respect and Resolution 

The New York City Study of Social and Literacy Development is a longitudinal, experimental evaluation of the 4Rs program in 18 New York City public elementary schools. The evaluation’s specific focus is on the impact of the 4Rs program on students’ social-emotional and academic development, their health risk behaviors including aggression, depression, and substance use, teachers’ professional development and relationships with students, parenting and parent involvement, and overall classroom and school climate. Read more...

Lions Quest 

Lions Quest, developed by Lions Club International, is a PreK-12 program that integrates social and emotional learning, character education, drug and bullying prevention, and service learning to build 21st century life skills. Building on prior evaluations, we are conducting a two-year longitudinal, quasi-experimental study designed to evaluate the impact of the Lions Quest “Skills for Adolescence,” program on student-, classroom-, and school-level outcomes in two middle schools in Long Island, New York. CSRP: Chicago School Readiness Project

The Chicago School Readiness Project is a longitudinal evaluation of a preschool program designed to improve children’s school readiness by decreasing their challenging and disruptive behaviors through a set of classroom-based interventions that include teacher training in classroom behavior management and mental health consultation.
