In partnership with researchers at Columbia University, this project integrated SECURe strategies and materials into the Getting Ready for School program (GRS) across 16 Head Start classrooms in New York City. The result was a new version of GRS, including a focus on self-regulation, that is adapted for Head Start classrooms. This included reviewing existing GRS math and literacy curricula and indentifying how to embed practices or strategies that build Executive Function and self-regulation skills, in addition to integrating specific SECURe activities into GRS materials. The project also included a teacher training program on EF and self-regulation.
